This is the beginning...
I am not a writer, I am more of a talker, especially if you ask my husband. If you don’t know me already, my name is Jamie, and I am a fairly new wedding venue owner. We do host other events such as bridal showers and parties, but our focus is weddings. As I write that, I am still in shock that this is my life. Never would I have imagined that I’d own a wedding venue, or be a business owner at all. I’ll be honest, I didn’t know much about owning a business when we bought the venue, and I’m still only a year in…so I know there is a lot more for me to know and find out. I am learning every single day.
In these entries, I want to be allowed to be honest. What I mean by this is, I want to say what I want without judgements. Or really, I don't care if you judge me, I just don't want to hear about it in the comments.
If there is anything that people will say about me, it’s that I’m transparent about what I feel. Sometimes, I might be a little too transparent but at least you don’t have to guess what I’m thinking…or at least that’s how I feel about it. I’m going to talk about the day-to-day of being a venue owner, I’m going to talk about weddings and the “adventures” of those weddings, and I’ll probably ramble about regular life too. Anything that I say, or any personal stories I share about my brides, their families, or anything else… these are for informational purposes only and, of course, I won’t be saying names!
I love my job. I was in the corporate world for my whole adult life, filled with meetings and phone calls…and now my meetings consist of meeting my couples and their families to discuss their wedding days. Don’t get me wrong, being a venue owner is really hard sometimes, but you wouldn’t believe the amount of stress that left my body once I left the corporate world. And by left, I mean they left me - I was actually let go from a really well paying job, but, that was the kick I needed to invest my days to this new journey that Bryant and I decided to take on. The word “journey” is definitely overused, but sometimes it just makes sense! Oh, Bryant is my husband and you’ll hear a lot of about him along the way too. So now, instead of having a calendar full of meetings to plan for the actual meeting, I get to talk to you guys, and repaint benches, and research wedding trends and most importantly, create a perfect wedding day for my couples.
Like I said, I am not a writer. I guess if you don’t like what you read…there are a lot of other blogs out there.
Until next time…
Did you know…when you choose a locally-owned wedding venue you are helping to develop and improve the local economy? Your locally-owned wedding venues are small business owners who create hundreds of jobs for the local wedding industry every year.
Here are some of my fellow locally-owned wedding venues:
