Fall is an enchanting time of year, boasting vibrant colors, crisp air, and a unique charm that makes it perfect for weddings. More couples are beginning to realize the beauty of autumn as the ideal backdrop for their special day. Discover why having a fall wedding may be the best time of year for your wedding!
Stunning Scenery
One of the most captivating features of fall weddings is the stunning beauty that nature provides. The changing leaves create a breathtaking palette of reds, oranges, and yellows, which then serve as a blanket of color for photographs.
Imagine saying "I do" while hearing the fall leaves rustling behind you, feeling the crispness of the new season welcoming you and your partner as husband and wife.
When planning your wedding, consider outdoor locations that showcase the leaves and beauty of the color change.
Comfortable Weather
Another strong reason to say "I do" in the fall is the amazing weather that it brings. Temperatures are starting to cool down, especially at night, which makes it a more comfortable choice for your family and friends.
Luckily in the South, we don't usually don't start feeling "cold" weather until around January, so our "fall temperatures" last a little longer.
This comfortable weather allows for more opportunities when it comes to what guests choose to wear, instead of having to think about the extremes of hot or cold weather.
Seasonal Decor
I love the color schemes that come with having a fall wedding. The depths of the fall hues, without being too restricted on having to choose all dark colors.
Consider using centerpieces made from in-season flowers such as sunflowers, chrysanthemums, or deep-hued dahlias. Pumpkins are a great way to add pops of color and decoration, especially on a budget.
Creating a rustic theme with natural elements is definitely trendy, which also creates a comfortable and welcoming space for your guests.
Unique Culinary Options
Another great benefit of a fall wedding is the incredible seasonal food options available. Autumn is an ideal time for fresh, flavorful ingredients.
Instead of offering a traditional meat and vegetable option, consider having gourmet grilled cheeses and a hearty soup. One of my previous brides had this at her wedding, and it was so delicious and unique.
Cozy Ambiance
As autumn evenings grow cooler, the cozy feel of the season enhances your wedding's atmosphere. Warm lighting options like string lights, (which we just happen to have hanging over our patio), candles, and lanterns can transform your venue into a romantic space.
Offering blankets for the ceremony, or a firepit for cocktail hour is a sure way to create a cozy atmosphere for your loved ones.
Flexible Timing for Celebrations
The nature of fall allows for flexibility in your wedding timeline. With shorter daylight hours, couples can schedule ceremonies at different times without the worry of heat. We do see that a 3 pm or 4 pm ceremony time tends to be the "norm" for Fall weddings. Having a ceremony any later might start creeping into the darkness for your ceremony, which you may not want.
A late afternoon ceremony can beautifully transition into a candlelit evening reception, creating a magical ambiance as the day turns to night. This flexibility allows for creative planning of your entire wedding experience!
Celebrating the Beauty of Autumn
From stunning scenery and delightful weather to unique food options and a warm atmosphere, fall truly shines as an extraordinary time to say "I do."
As you move forward in your planning journey, consider fall for your wedding date. I do know that I love the way our venue looks in the fall.
Until next time...
