5 Reasons to Host Your Wedding in the Quaint Town of Hamilton, Georgia

Updated: Nov 14

Nestled in the heart of Georgia, Hamilton offers a unique charm and a warm community spirit that may surprise you. This small town offers that "home-town" feel with a town square and local shops and businesses. When hosting a wedding in Hamilton, Georgia, there will be plenty to do to keep your family and friends busy while they visit!

1. Callaway Gardens

If you love nature, Callaway Gardens is a destination you simply must visit. Located just a short 3 miles drive from The Burch on Twenty Seven, it's a great destination for the whole family. With over 2,500 acres of scenic beauty, including the breathtaking azaleas and a tranquil lake, there are endless ways to unwind.

The Butterfly Center is one of my favorites - it's a big, glass building full of lush plants and butterflies. Sometimes they will land on your head or fingers, which is exciting, even for an adult. During the warmer months, I love to go sit in my beach chair at their lake. It's a good alternative when I can't take a trip to the beach. They have a big inflatable for kids to play on, a bar for the adults and water to keep my toes in - such a fun, summer day!

2. West Point Lake

For water enthusiasts, West Point Lake is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. This expansive lake covers over 25,000 acres, making it one of Georgia’s largest. Whether you enjoy fishing, boating, or picnicking by the shores, West Point Lake has something for everyone.

If you prefer to stay on land, there are plenty of hiking trails. You can even stay overnight at one of their camping accommodations!

3. The Little White House

History lovers will appreciate a visit to The Little White House, the former retreat of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Located in nearby Warm Springs, this charming cottage is surrounded by beautiful gardens and offers a fascinating look at the life of one of America’s iconic presidents.

When you take a self-guided tour, you’ll discover insights into Roosevelt’s time there and his lasting legacy. Make sure to visit the museum! This was always on the list of field trips that my kids took - I miss those days so much.

4. F.D. Roosevelt State Park

No visit to the Hamilton area is complete without F.D. Roosevelt State Park. This 9,049-acre park is a paradise for nature lovers, offering countless hiking trails and stunning views of Pine Mountain. Enjoy a picnic while enjoying the outdoors, or have lunch at one of the many local restaurants in Pine Mountain.

Spend your afternoon walking the Man O'War trail, discovering locally crafted goods, or sipping coffee from Tiger Lillies, which is one of my favorites! The owners are great too!
